QSorter values each grain

The QSorter is a device that measures the biochemical quality of grains “one by one” and sorts them in two or more quality classes. The first version of the product, the QSorter Explorer is able to sort grains in a multi-kg-per-hour capacity. First sorting applications are for wheat, rice and coffee. QualySense products are being developed with the support of “first-in-class” research organizations such as EMPA, AGROSCOPE, ETH and the US Department of Agriculture

QualySense is the innovation leader in developing and marketing advanced sorting devices for quality and safety control of grains, beans, and seeds. The unique and proprietary devices enable sorting grains, seeds and beans reliably by biochemical properties. QualySense technology fully enables breeders and food processors to make a more conscious use of their raw materials, therefore contributing to more sustainable agricultural practices.

Partners

USA Department of Agriculture develops science and technology to rapidly measure grain traits; improve grain storage and handling systems; and minimize wind erosion through studying physical processes and developing predictive models and erosion control systems.

EMPA is an interdisciplinary research institution for material science and technology within the ETH Domain. EMPA’s research activities are oriented to meet the requirements of industry and the needs of our society.

Agroscope Changins-Wädenswil (ACW) research station is the Swiss federal institute in charge of plant production and plant protection. ACW is in charge with the official VCU (value of cultivation and use) variety trials for wheat and maize in Switzerland.

ETHZ (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) is a world leading university and its Institute of Food, Nutrition and Health (IFNH) is a top-quality unit that provides novel research and teaching, which covers the whole field of food and nutrition.
